What an amazing weekend it’s been here on the farm! My son & I went to our Beekeeper Graduation & Field Day, with the Southeastern Virginia Beekeepers Guild .This was the first time he had ever been in a hive and he had mentioned beforehand that he was afraid of being stung. When we arrived, though, all his fear was replaced by complete enthusiasm and eagerness to get right into the hive…and so he did! At times I had to remind him to let the adults see! Guess we will be signing him up for the local 4-H beekeeping group.

Field Day!
After this, I held my very first class on beginner soap making, here at Roses Ridge Farm. I had a wonderful group of students from the Virginia Urban Homesteaders League I didn’t think I could fill an hour talking about soap but 2 hours later the class had just flown by! My good friend and student, Donna Rae Barrow, over at Flannel Jammies Farm did a wonderful blog post about the class. Check out the link! She also took some amazing pictures… here is a preview…

The rest of the weekend was spent planting more peas & beans, weeding, pushing my boy on his tree swing, and enjoying the sunshine. Hope everyone had as much fun as I did!
